For years, managers have been told to wrap feedback between compliments.

Sounds nice. Feels safe. But here’s the truth:

👉 The “sandwich” often confuses people. They walk away unsure of what they actually need to change.

That’s where the SBI Model comes in:

Situation: Describe when/where it happened.

Behavior: State the specific action.

Impact: Explain the effect on the team or outcome.

It’s clear. It’s specific. It’s actionable.
