Rethinking Leadership Advice

  • Traditional leadership advice and training models are becoming irrelevant in our fast-paced world, and a cookie-cutter approach no longer makes sense. Leadership is a complex “kaleidoscope of ever-shifting variables,” and the old playbooks are no longer working.

To raise the bar, we need to discard outdated advice, such as:

  • Frameworks that overcomplicate problems without providing real solutions.
  • “One-size-fits-all” statements that oversimplify challenges with a single solution.
  • Unrealistic lessons derived from rigid theories that fail in real-world situations with human beings and many variables.
  • Word salads and vague pronouncements that lack substance.

Instead, effective leadership advice today must provide actual insights, be supported by compelling and memorable stories, and offer a tool or a framework for putting the insight into action. The goal is to move beyond theoretical models and return to an intuitive approach of sharing wisdom—the kind that slows down the world around you and gives you the tools to steer the outcome. #RethinkingLeadership #ModernLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment
